A two album set, offering 32 tracks from 1981's 'For Every Man' through to 1993's 'Consider The Cost'. Discographicaly the problem is that there's nothing from Steve's first two Word albums (even though they're referred to in the comprehensive sleeve notes by Bob Dryden) nor his latest Warner Alliance album 'Mercy In The Wilderness'. Another problem is that many of the tracks here have been reissued in the 'Doing My Best' albums. But if you want a good cross section of the rock-gospeller's gems {and the cuts from his three classic albums 'Fire And Ice', 'Shake Me To Wake Me' and 'One On One' are of the highest quality) then investigate this latest plunder of the archives.

This is a great collection of Steve's work; tho' I was somewhat disappointed when the original version of "Run to the Battle" was not included. However it included the masterpiece "Do Something Now", I still have the original 12" vinyl. And, yes I was hoping it would have included some songs from his first 2 lp's, which I have on vinyl; esp. "Song for Mom". I was glad to hear the original vers. of "Run to the Battle" on the Definitive collection. GOD Bless Steve! - Thank you for so many years of ccm...- Don
