A handsomely packed CD/cassette boxed set, giving you the songsmith's last three albums 'The Beginning', based on the Pentateuch (the first 5 books of the Bible, you ignoramuses), 'The Way Of Wisdom', inspired by the wisdom writings of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song Of Solomon and 'The Word', which has nothing to do with either a Milton Keynes record company nor a pop culture TV programme but is a lightning drag through the Prophets. Then as a "bonus", if you need a bonus after getting three albums for £16.99 (that's CD, cassette will cost a mere £12.99!) you get an orchestral overture highlighting some of the songs here and "Heal Our Land", a song Michael wrote for America's National Day Of Prayer". The songwriting craft and biblical integrity of Mr Card has been remarked on before in Cross Rhythms, as too has a sameness in stylistic approach (there are only so many things you can do with delicate acoustic guitars and symphonic orchestrations) and over three albums most listeners' heads will begin to sag. But there's still a wealth of biblical integrity and prophetic insight to be gleaned here.
