A collaboration between two of Christendom's finest meditative songsmiths, 'Brother To Brother' is proof that Christians from backgrounds seemingly poles apart really can work together! Anyone familiar with the works of Card, described as "the thinking evangelical", and Talbot, the Franciscan Friar, will know that they share a similar acoustic style and on this album they compliment one another wonderfully. Each has chosen six of their favourite pieces from the other's repertoire, taking the lead on them whilst the other provides backing vocals and harmonies. The co-operation even goes so far as to combine two of their songs into one: "Immanuel" (Card) and "Behold Now The Kingdom" (Talbot) are married together with a gentle orchestral arrangements that blends them perfectly. Various musical influences are evident throughout the album, South American to Celtic, African to Appalachian, enriching each song and enhancing the deep spirituality that is the trademark of both artists. Beginning powerfully with Talbot's "One Faith" the album rolls smoothly over the hills of gentler numbers including "Come Worship" (Talbot) and "Why" (Card) before finally rising to a fitting climax again with Card's "Come To The Table". An album to enjoy whilst soaking in a hot bath after a hard day's work or to perhaps savour with a mug of Horlicks before bedtime.
