Reviewed by Ewan Jones The Gaither series don't do anything by halves and this in concert affair occasionally comes across a little slick for a collection of tunes so downhome. But there's no doubting the talent on offer her. "There's A Rainbow At The End Of Every Storm" sung by mainstream country veteran Marty Stuart and his band The Fabulous Superlatives is a bluesy gospel number, "Climbing Up The Mountain" performed by Southern gospel's top sellers Ernie Haase & Signature Sound has a great, almost rockabilly groove, "I Heard My Saviour Calling Me" sung by Rhonda Vincent & The Rage is an upbeat Alison Krauss-style hoedown while Elvis could have crooned "Time Has Made A Change" as performed here by Ben Speer, Reggie and Ladye Love Smith. "I Am The Man Thomas" features seasoned veterans Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys and tells the gospel in an imaginative exchange between Jesus and doubting Thomas while an overblown ensemble rendition of "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" is a charming country plodder. You either love it or hate it, but I'm a believer and this CD is great fun.
