The series brings expensive, slick yet non-sophisticated, competent performances. Burning with the passions of love, hope and faith, this was recorded live in the Dixieland of New Orleans. Like the other Homecoming gospel videos and CDs previously, this is more country than most country today but on this set it also brings in trad jazz. It shamelessly features the unquestioning musical stands of committed artists. Well, why not? Spontaneous music is what country music always used to be. Sounds of good news like this have often graced these solo artists' enterprises! Of one thing I am certain, this is worth a top rating. It even features 19 tracks from the likes of the Martins, Jessy Dixon, Joel Hemphill, Karen Peck, Dottie Rambo and, of course, the Gaithers - the creators of the fine Homecoming series.
Paul Davis is a journalist and broadcaster and is in eldership responsibility in his local church.
