Seemingly American Christian music market men are demanding every record company produces its own acapella album, such is the huge success of Glad et al. It would be easy to get cynical about this market opportunism particularly as the new technology of multi-tracking and samplers ensure that even fairly average harmonizers can achieve a smooth-as-silk harmony sound. But even so, the singers who get to sing on Maranatha! Praise albums are particularly adept and this album, taking in slight tinges of black gospel, Southern gospel and even Take Six-style jazz licks, is beautifully done while the songs are good and vocal arrangements occasionally inspired. The skilful mix of contemporary choruses and a hymn or two is masterly while the "I Love You Lord" closer with lead vocal by Kelly Willard is a gem. If the concept of acapella praise appeals, check this out.

We had this album on tape when it first came out, I just found it again in mp3 format on itunes. In the search bar just type in "Maranatha!" you can download the whole album for 9.99. Oh how I have missed this...

I had this on a tape when it came out and I played it until it wore out! I so regret not buying it on CD and making backup copies, but in 1991 I was a poor high school student and $16 for a CD was just too expensive at that time! =) I miss this album so very much. We even sang some of the songs from it in my youth choir, and I've thought about calling my old music pastor and begging him to make me a copy--that's how much I loved this album!

I have searched for this album FOREVER and finally this was the only place I found it... arch=acapella&R1=V3... both the music notes and the CD... it's a little pricey esp. w/ the shipping (from Singapore) but there's nowhere else! I don't know why... it's such a great album!

I had this CD when it came out in the early '90s, but lost it a while ago. I've been looking for it online for a couple of years now and can't find it or the scores! Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it!

I bought the cd and accompanying music book when it came out. I haven't seen it since.
The book has all the parts. I haven't seen it since, and it is out of print, but perhaps I could make a copy or something.
This is one of my all-time favorite worship cds. I just never get tired of the wonderful arrangements and worshipful spirit of it.
