The annual Spring Harvest celebration has long been releasing studio recordings of songs they intend to utilise in their event and this year's showcase offers material from a broad spectrum of movements and songwriters including Rend Collective, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Hillsong, Worship Central and many more. This album contains 12 tracks all of which are recorded with a live feel and are very singable and accessible. The singers here may not be the songsmiths who originally recorded the songs but they are a pretty good bunch and include Steph Macleod, Pete James, Hannah Barnes, Sarah Bird, Jess Morgan and Doug Walker. "Christ Be All Around Me" is a tender and reflective heartcry that turns the worshipper's attention towards God. I have found this one stuck in my head for days after first hearing it! Hillsong's "Calvary" provides another look at Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and continues down the stylistic path of modern worship that contains the feel of an old hymn whilst maintaining freshness and a sense of power in the arrangement. However, the standout track of the album for me is the final one "Can't Stop Your Love", written by Ben Cantelon, Nick Herbert and Jason Ingram. This is an up-tempo song that has a fantastic hook as well as being congregationally-friendly. This album is accompanied by a songbook which contains a total of 60 songs as well as giving you access to downloadable extras. If your church (or your car radio) is looking for a unique collection of the latest up-and-coming worship music of 2015, and you don't mind cover version projects, then this album is for you!
