If anyone from your church visited Minehead, Pwllheli, Ayr or Skegness and couldn't wait for the Spring Harvest live worship album to come out, no doubt they returned bearing a copy of this. What 'New Songs For '93' consists of is a production by Bruce Pont featuring a good, if a tad bland, studio group each performer having a wealth of sessions to their name (Helen Burgess, Carl McGregor, Ian Price, Nanette Welmans, etc, etc). So, are this year's songs of the highest quality? Well, two or three aren't this year's at all (was it necessary to re-record the Hosanna! Music items particularly as these new renditions aren't as good as the original American recordings?). The same remarks could be made about Noel Richard's "Great Is The Darkness" and Graham Kendrick's "We Are His Children". Despite some good material a dullish and rather too predictable album.
