Of the remaining two-thirds, more said they trusted Tory leader David Cameron to keep his word (21 percent) than Prime Minister Gordon Brown (12 percent). London Mayer Boris Johnson was in second place in political selections with 20 percent. The Queen was the most trusted person in the public eye said YouGov.

Parish priest of Clogheen, said the damage done to Tobat Losa-Which lies on the outskirts of Cahir town at the foot of the Galtee mountains - showed a lack of respect for sacred places.

Four Iraqi Christians were killed in Baghdad and Kirkuk on April 1 and 2. The perpetrators are as yet unknown. "The killing of four innocent people within two days has put a renewed fear in our hearts…What we need is a more safe and secure Iraq for all Iraqis, especially for the Christian’s who have faced ethno-religious cleansing," said Julian Tainmoorazy, president of Iraqi Christian Relief Council.

Three Christian men, all in their 80’s were released from a military prison on shipping containers in Eritrea, without enough food and medical care Open Doors said. Eritrea ranks ninth on Open Doors list of worst persecutors worldwide, and is especially harsh on Christians who share their faith with others.

Some Iranian Christians cannot escape threats even when they leave the country it emerged in March. Three Iranian Pastors in Athens, Greece, on March 11 received a letter stating that, unless they return to Islam they will be found and killed as apostates. The letter written by a radical group calling themselves ‘’the Hezbelloah Party’’, accused the Pastors of ‘anti-Islamic activities’ and partcipitation in ‘espionage organisations’ against Iran.

Hindu extremists on March 12 splashed the house of a pastor in Nainpur, Mandala, and set it aflame. The extremists burnt the house of Pastor James Masih of St Mark Church at midnight, damaging doors, windows, curtains, files and furniture. Pastor Masih said that the local people opposed his congregation because of their Christian activities. The Pastor filed a police complaint at Nairpur police station.

On March 5th two Iranian Christian women, Maraieh Admirizadeh Esmaeilabad (30) and Maryam Rustampoor (27) were arrested by the Iranian security forces. Their only crime being that they are committed Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus. They are being unfairly labelled as ‘anti-government activists’, because of the hostility of the government towards practising Christians.

Social workers and police armed with a battering ram mounted an ‘’invasion’’ to take a 86-year old woman away from her family, said her daughter. Betty Figg was pulled away in a wheel-chair from her daughter's Coventry home after police and social services arrived at the door. Rosalind Figg had withdrawn her frail mother from a care home after she reportedly said she wanted to go home.

Blind men and women led every part of a service to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Louis Braille. Torch Trust, the UK-based Christian organisation that works with blind and partially sighted people, marked the bicentenary by holding the first ever all-Braille church service, at St Martin’s-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square. Also involved were the RNIB the association of Blind Catholics, the Guild of Church Braillists and Churches Together in England.

Debt counselling charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has been awarded 'best small company' by the Sunday Times for the second year running. The company beat nearly 1,000 other companies to claim the award, which was based on responses to anonymous questionnaires sent to all employers about quality of working life. Topics included ongoing training, career prospects and quality of leadership. The survey showed that 97 percent of employers felt proud to work for CAP with 93 percent also stating that working for the charity was good for personal growth. In addition, 99 percent felt that the company made a positive difference to the World.

Christian campaign groups have welcomed the announcement that Cadbury’s Dairy Milk is to receive fair-trade certification by late summer. Cadbury’s is to increase the amount of fair-trade cocoa that it sources from Ghana to about 15,000 tonnes per year. This commitment means that Cadbury's will pay a guaranteed minimum price for cocoa, even if that is higher than the open market price. Campaign group Stop The Traffic has being calling on chocolate manufacturers for two years to take responsibility for the chocolate they sell. The group claims that thousands of children are trafficked onto cocoa plantations in the Ivory Coast and across West Africa, and that little progress has been made to remove exploitative child labour from the chocolate supply chain.

An employee at a Christian ‘homeless’ charity, whose patron is the Archbishop of Canterbury, has been suspended for answering questions about his faith to a colleague at work. David Booker, 44, from Southampton, has worked for the English Churches Housing Group (ECHG) for almost four years. On March 26 while working an evening shift he had a 35 minute conversation with a female colleague Fiona Vardy. Ms Vardy asked him about his faith and beliefs. During the conversation he was asked the Church’s teaching on homosexuality and same-sex marriages, which Mr. Booker explained. The conversation was free-flowing and Mr. Booker clearly explained that he had homosexual friends and was not homophobic. The following day he was summoned by his employers and told that he was suspended for ‘events that happened last night’. On March 30, he was given a formal suspension notice alleging that ‘On March 25 2009 while on shift with Fiona Vardy, you seriously breached ECHG’s code of conduct by promoting your religious views which contained discriminatory comments regarding a person’s sexual orientation’.

Christian and Muslim parents in London, who kept their primary school children away from controversial lessons promoting homosexuality in February (part of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender History month), could face legal action by the local council. Around 30 children were withdrawn from the week of lessons at George Tomlinson Primary School in Waltham Forest, East London. A Waltham Forest Council spokesman confirmed that the withdrawals are being treated as unauthorised absences’ and that ‘action had been taken’. Although the Council refused to say how they plan to punish parents, the Council website says that parents of truant children can be asked to sign a contract, fined on the spot or taken to court.
