The intriguingly named Burn Vineyard is located in San Luis Obispo, California, and this live worship CD features Jesse Lane and Joel Limpic, who lead worship at the Burn VCF, and Ryan Delmore, from the Five Cities Vineyard in nearby Arroyo Grande. The songs are a mix of old and new; there are several of Ryan’s, plus a few from producer-cum-bassist, guitarist and keyboardist Darren Clarke, one part-penned by Vineyard UK stalwart Brenton Brown, and two old favourites, Marc Nelson’s 1987 classic "I Believe In Jesus" and the (even older) "Hosanna" by Carl Tuttle from 1985. I wasn’t impressed by the lack of atmosphere, the audience seemed rather far back in the mix, the worship leaders suffered from slightly dodgy vocals from time to time and most of the songs were a tad ordinary. In fact, this didn’t really burn for me, rather it smouldered without really catching light. Pity.
