Question: Does the world really need another worship album? Answer: Obviously, because Vineyard keep on churn them out en masse. This is just another in a long line of factory-produced blurb. Musically, it's tighter than a pair of trousers after Christmas. Production is slick and polished, just as you'd expect from Vineyard. But, alas, there's something missing. What worship albums in general need is a freshness and a newness that grabs the earholes and shakes the soul. And this is no exception. Standout number one, opening track "Heavenly Father", starts with a hot guitar riff, a lilting sax and a thrash of drums while the rift' continues under the vocals. "Empower Me" begins with a jangly guitar that had me singing "There She Goes" by The Lah's! Sadly, the rest of the album doesn't have the pop magnetism of such a catchy tune. The rest trundles along perfunctorily, although "Altogether Lovely", a heartfelt delicate oasis in a desert of ordinariness, kept me listening. The forecast? Altogether patchy with bright spells here and there.
