Confession time: I felt little enthusiasm to hear this album after noting it featured live worship from the In Your Presence worship festival in Arnhem, Holland celebrating 50 years after the end of World War 2. I instantly pigeon holed in my mind MOR-sing-along-praise. Such thoughts were quickly blown away, from the opening track "More" I was captivated. Two worship leaders are featured, David Ruis and Brian Doerksen, whose own songs make up most of the content apart from Andy Park's "Spirit Of The Sovereign Lord" and the familiar hymn "My Jesus I Love Thee". These two guys have voices that any rock band would be pleased to have, in places it revived memories of a Chris Rea album. It lifts to peaks of stirring statements of faith 'Break Dividing Walls' and a spontaneous song "Can It Be". One thing I appreciated was the time and space allowed in its generous playing time to quietly soak in the blessing and meditate on songs that are cries from the heart and that tell of love for God, "Sweet Mercies", "Sweet Wind", "Creation Calls", "Eternity" songs of beauty embellished by the touch of craftsmen musicians from many countries, all blending to produce an album that demands experiencing as a whole, rather than listening to tracks in seclusion. My personal test for an album like this is "Does it help me to draw nearer to God?" This passes and also spans age and tastes in music as both my wife and 15 year old daughter gave it a definite thumbs up.

I was there in 1995 in Arnhem, and it was an overwhelming
experience for me. The worship, the messages, everything. I
don't exaggerate when I say that never before and never
afterwards have I attended a meeting, a conference or a
service where I felt the presence of God like there at this
moment in time. I still go back there in my mind when I
doubt my faith or when I lose hope, so unforgettable and
undeniable was the imprint on my heart.
