Kingsway have re-released these two Vineyard albums on a double album under the banner Vineyard Classics. They're not all actually classics of course but there's lots of fabulous stuff here. All designer-produced, being Vineyard: they transport everybody - band, worship leaders and congregation - into a studio and try to capture the dynamics of a live praise meeting. If you've ever tried to record this sort of thing in a church you'll understand why they do that! Although it's all highly polished technically, still some tracks work better than others. 'Unto The King' is a real highlight, from a simple C&W beginning it towers into an outpouring of worship which then goes so naturally into a time of free praise. Some of the more sensitive numbers are nicely handled, like "Father", but I must admit there is a certain samey character throughout that is inevitable when all the songs come from the same stable, as these do.
