Reviewed by Dave Brassington I must admit I am always wary of 'Best Of', 'Greatest Hits', etc compilations as frequently, if the artist/group is known to me, I find myself wondering "why was that title selected"? or in the case of a 'Best Of' how on earth can they have not included that bigger hit? This is often down to record companies deputing someone to organise things, with someone lacking real knowledge of the artist/s. Well no such problem here as with 'the boss man' being in total charge, it is purely down to Bill's own personal choice! The whole thing gets off to a cracking start with a lively version of the very country "Church In The Wildwood", then we have a fine version of "The Unclouded Day" by the late Howard Goodman. With 30 tracks, including a huge selection of gospel classics such as "It Is Well With My Soul", "Rock Of Ages", "In The Garden", "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", etc, there is so much to enjoy!. The Homecoming Friends include Guy Penrod, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Candy Hemphill Christmas, Kim Hopper and others as well as Gaither's own Vocal Band. It's hard to pick a favourite, but "There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood" by the great David Phelps takes some beating! An impressive compilation.
