Alliance Music seems to be releasing recordings from the Gaither Gospel Series like the proverbial London bus. You wait for ages and two come at once this being released the same time as 'Memphis Homecoming'. Here we have Mr and Mrs Southern Gospel, their darling boys - the Gaither Vocal Band and yet another star studded list of Homecoming Friends ancient and modern. These include Janet Paschal, the Hoppers and assorted members of the Speers family. Yet, in my opinion, it is the in-house GVB who steal the show. With a delivery cool enough to match any current boy band, they come up with an impressive performance on the much beloved "I Shall Wear A Crown" and the grand finale Southern gospel anthem "Let Freedom Ring", I must admit that I was expecting many of the tracks to have been written by Bill and Gloria but clearly these albums are designed as a celebration of all that's good in Gaither country. With writers as versatile as Suzanne Jennings and the legendary Hank Williams Senior, they have hit on a simple format that keeps these albums rolling off the presses.
