Bill & Gloria Gaither and Their Homecoming Friends - Hymns |
| |
Reviewed by Tony Cummings Any search on Amazon, or Cross Rhythms for that matter, will show you how prolific Bill and Gloria have been in recent years and this is another addition to their ever expanding catalogue. They have produced a joyous album in true Southern gospel style, which, to paraphrase a previous album title, should really allow anyone to "Sing their blues away". It doesn't stand out as being vastly different from other albums in the genre, nor from other Gaiter offerings, but it is done with sincerity and in the right spirit, not to mention that it will hit the right note with many fans. Here the Florida Boys, the Gaither Vocal Band, Cynthia Clawson, the Isaacs and numerous others explore the American hymnal. With 19 songs in this album, you certainly cannot complain that this is not value for money and, if old time renditions of old time hymns are your thing, you will not be disappointed.
