Recorded informally around a studio piano, this is an early collection of authentic Bill & Gloria Gaither Homecoming Friends balladeering from an assortment that includes Russ Taff, the Speers, Doug Oldham, the Goodmans and many more. It is unashamedly unrehearsed, rootsy and less polished than more recent episodes. It is interesting to hear spontaneous, impactive sentiment and worship as opposed to the shallow, plastic passion of more clinical environs. This handsome gathering's release is an engaging album of well-penned contemplative songs. If you are looking for faith-building ditties a la sentimental themes, you'll find it in this collection! All the songs deserve a welcome airing particularly Gaither's "The King Is Coming", Fanny Crosby's "My Saviour First Of All" and Mosie Lister's "Then I Met The Master". The assembled winsomely display a most likeable professional vocal styling and delivery.
