Laid back workouts of popular gospel, country, spiritual and traditional songs. My first reaction was horror at the cheesy and highly irritating applause that follows each solo verse and bemusement at the appearance of respected artists such as Michael English and Jessy Dixon, but by the album's close I was warming to the heartfelt and undeniably high quality performances, characterised by two genuinely moving moments; one an unaccompanied "Amazing Grace", short but poignant, and the thought-provoking "Daddy Cut My Hair", recently covered by Gary Chapman on his 'Outside' set.
